Apple Cider is not just for the autumn. Its crisp, tart flavor lends itself to many other options. For example, I love to use a chilled splash of apple cider in my pie crusts, in place of water. Or, add it to a simmering pot of pork ribs. But on this occasion, I have in mind to prepare a spicy infused concoction to use in a delicious Winter Sangria. The spice and extra tang of the orange will make this a flavorful addition to many of your winter cooking recipes. But, oh…. This Sangria!


  • Apple Cider – 2 cups
  • Sugar – ½ cup
  • Cinnamon stick – 1
  • Cloves – 10 whole cloves
  • Orange – 1 orange, cut into chunks


  • In a small saucepan, bring the cider, sugar, and spices to a boil.
  • Add the orange slices and simmer 10 minutes.
  • Strain and store in a sealed jar
